SMARTER BALANCED TESTING
May 1– May 11. Please make sure your child has a good breakfast each morning, and gets a good night’s rest. Testing will be from 8:30-10:30 each morning, so please hold off on taking your child to appointments during these times.
We started this project last Wednesday. Your child selected a state to study, and will write a report about the state. The final draft is due on Friday, May 11.
The follow up to our State Report will be a State Float. This project will be done mostly at home (see Homework link on my website). We will pull our floats in a “parade” on the due date. This project will be due on Thursday, May 31.
States/Capitals: Each week we continue to learn new states/capitals. Each Monday there is a new set of 10 states/capitals. The quiz is on Thursday each week.
We will begin playing “The Pioneer Game” in class. Your child is part of a wagon train, crossing the country in hopes of finding new land to settle on. They will earn points by doing research, and solving team problems. This game is a great way to learn about history!
