All About Mrs Durfee

Welcome to 3rd Grade!  My name is Taylor Durfee, and I am looking forward to having your children in my classroom this year. This will be my fifth year with Redding STEM Academy, and my second as a classroom teacher. I graduated from Chico State University in 2019 with my BA in Psychology, and that’s when I became the PE Teacher here at RSTEM. I’ve been filling various roles since then, including serving lunch, being an Aide in the classrooms and working in the Project SHARE after school program. I recently completed the teaching program at Simpson University Credentialing Program and I am proud to be a newly credentialed teacher.

I grew up in the North State, born and raised in Shasta Lake City. I’ve since moved around the North State area, but always close to home. My husband and I purchased our home in Lakehead right at the start of the pandemic in 2020 and it has been our little slice of paradise since. I am married to Ryan, and we have three children together, Riley, Jace and Hailyn. Riley goes to Berrendos Middle School in Red Bluff, Jace is in middle school here at RSTEM and our youngest, Hailyn, will be in my third grade class this year.

I enjoy the beauty of the area that we live in, but I also love to travel and explore new places. I do find my happy place at the beach where we visit as much as possible throughout the year. I aspire to one day travel the world with my family, but until then we find inspiration and beauty in our weekend adventures.

I am looking forward to a great new school year, and I look forward to meeting you all in August.

Three quotes that inspire and guide me as a teacher:

"Commit yourself to lifelong learning. The most valuable asset you'll ever have is your mind and what you put into it."  Brian Tracy

“Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.”  Margaret Mead

“When you learn, teach. When you get, give.” Maya Angelou
